Find Chainmail Armor For Reenactments

There are many people who enjoy reenactments. Civil War reenactments, Revolutionary War reenactments, and Medivel time period reenactments are all some of the popular ways in which people practice this hobby. In order to maintain the best in authenticity, most people who have some experience when it comes to the reenactments prefer to try to find items for their costumes that mimic history the best they can.

For the Medieval time period reenactments, this typically means lots of chainmail armor. This type of armor was very popular during this period of time. While plate armor is often associated with this time period as well, it is the connecting links of chainmail that most of the warriors wore when they went into battle.

Made of a seemingly simple design of interlocking metal links, this type of armor was not thought to offer as great of a level of protection that plate armor does. It does, however, offer many different advantages, especially when it comes to those people who are just getting started in reenactments. It offers those people a way to easily begin in the reenactments without making a huge investment of time and money in order to do so.

Unlike plate armor, chainmail armor is less expensive. It is less expensive to make. Therefore, it is less expensive to buy. This is true whether the plate armor is new or used. When compared to the new or used chainmail, the same quality plate armor will almost always be more expensive.

One of the primary reasons why plate armor is so expensive is because it is usually fitted to the person who is purchasing it. This means that precise measurements must be taken in order to ensure that the fit is accurate. This leads to another problem with plate armor that makes chainmail a more attractive choice for many people.

Because plate armor is made to a specific person, it is often difficult to find correctly finding armor of this nature unless it has been specifically ordered. Used plate armor is available, of course, but it made be more suitable for display purposes than for use in reenactments due to the likelihood that it will not fit properly. Chainmail armor can easily adjusted to fit a wide range of body types, weights, and heights.

Because, chainmail is made using a simple system of interlocking metal rings, it is a simple matter of removing or adding rings to make the necessary adjustments to fit a different person. It is very easy to simply remove an entire row or two of rings to make it shorter to more easily fit a smaller person, for example, while it is just as easy to fashion together more rows to add to the chainmail so that it fits a larger person. It is this simplicity that also makes it easy to repair any broken or bent pieces of chainmail as well. This is one reason why used chainmail is such a great value and should be looked at as a way to get started while beginning reenactments.
